You are currently browsing the tag archive for the ‘cat’ tag.

As the Yarn Harlot stated in her very first post (yeah, I did some archiving) that “a survey of other knitting blogs has revealed to me that it might be a prerequisite” to own a cat.  Well, what do you know, we have a cat that resides at our house.  While she may perhaps be the cutest cat I have ever seen, she has her quirky ways.  Examples:  Every night early morning she wakes me up to let her outside.  My 2 year old doesn’t even do that anymore (wake me up in the middle of the night, obviously I did NOT put my son outside).  Rita (named after Rita Marley of course) won’t sit on your lap but she will sit on the back of the couch and lick your hair.  She  had a litter of kittens by the time she was 2!  She loves to play fetch and will do this for as long as you are willing to throw a hair tie (favorite fetch object). Her latest hobby is stalking the bird nest that has recently taken up residence on our back porch.

I found Rita on the Austin Animal Shelter website.  She is a lynx/siamese mix and desperatly needed a home.  She had just had a litter of kittens and all were adopted already, except her.  I felt SO sad for her and knew she had to come live with us.  The day I found her online was the day she came home with us.  While she isn’t a lap cat, she shows her affection in other ways.  She has been known to LOVE wool too.  I cannot tell you how many times I have found her LAYING on my yarn.  EEK!  She has only destroyed one work in progress thus far.

If Rita had a color palette, this is what it would be:
